“So … what’s the weather going to be like?”

Ha! If only we knew … But we’ll try our best to give you some tips on what to wear regardless.

Firstly: Dismiss any notions of ice-cool Nordic chic you might associate with Reykjavík. We’re celebrating out in the Icelandic countryside: farms, mountains, gravel and sheep. It’s rustic, so please plan your outfit to accordingly. We found that googling how to dress for rustic weddings and country weddings offers some great tips.

Secondly: No-one will have to be outside for too long. Parking is right next to the church at Hruni and the reception at Eyvindartunga; our bus will drop you there so you won’t have to brave the elements or walk across any glaciers.

OK: So if you plan to wear a dress – do it! But consider pairing it with a jumper or cardigan. Umbrellas are widely scorned by Icelanders as being utterly ineffective (they have a point), so ditch them in favour of a raincoat such as the one modelled by Jóhanna on this website.

If you plan to wear a suit … well that’s actually pretty much ideal for the temperatures we’ll be having (probably somewhere around 12°C in August). Style-wise, think rustic and simple. This is a country wedding where the finest Italian silk shirt might feel a little inadequate. Look to the proud folk of Scotland or Norway for inspiration. And enjoy not being too hot.
